This is the old blog post where I first introduced some of the components available in the Visual Studio International Pack. A few months after that post I created a blog post on the new controls.
This is the link for the post on the new controls

Excellent enhancements, but I have to say: You really disappointed me on this one. The Kana fonts were never cool enough in Japan to be used on full-fledged typefaces. I never used the Yomi text editor you show on the screenshot, so can not comment on that, but I expect the Yomi solution will be exceptionally slow in terms of rendering speed, because you still have to run an online language editor which is not available on the Desktop OS.
The Kana looks excellent as a typeface on the full-fledged, OS-native Roman-fonts-based, solutions. However, the choice of the 5-6 digit Unicode range and the small, compact form still remains a pity. Its creator, as well as the creators of Font-Toolkit, UILabels and many other Microsoft controls (like Calendar, MessageBoxes etc), are uncool. I had hoped to see some improvements in this area.
Nonetheless, this control-set looks good, and could be useful for some projects, but I would wait for the next version because the current one is too old to be usable.

DARPA Propose to Create Laser Weapons

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has proposed creating weapons that use light in order to defeat terrorist threats and other future warfare threats. The weapons will defeat hand-held weapons that can jam lasers, such as that used by the popular Igloo M-29.

DARPA says that it plans to do so by using a new technology that can create more “energy in a small package” than lasers. DARPA has referred to the technologies as being “sexy,” but really mean “the nano-scale laser.”

The laser weapons will use nano-scale
