Do jQuery plugins that deal with the DOM implement (or mimic) the native approach?
I understand that jQuery apps can feel a lot like native apps in some ways. For instance, there are many built-in methods in jQuery like.append() and.children(), which work with the native DOM elements.
So if I were to use a jQuery plugin like jQuery Validate or jQuery Mobile, does this mean I’m mimicking the native approach to the DOM?
And if so, what are the pros and cons of this approach?
This a very broad question and I’ll try to answer in a general manner.
Numerous jQuery plugins and their authors think that they are doing (and often mimicing) native DOM programming because of performance. This is at least one of the main reasons why they use jQuery but not the native DOM, even though it is very easy to use in very many ways the native DOM in jQuery. This is a big part of it.
Another reason is that their authors (and especially jQuery core) have been pushing the DOM for years; and some parts are still quite experimental in the native DOM. jQuery Plugin authors take the time to make their plugins work and last a bit longer as their authors don’t have to struggle with the native DOM.
And there’s also a lot of plugins that simply don’t have to do with the native DOM. We all know that using jQuery’s.innerHTML attribute is not the same as using the native DOM’s.innerHTML property. So there’s quite a lot of plugins that have to work around this and mimic the native DOM rather than running the text through a parser for typesetting or inserting the text in a table.
And many tutorials claim that this is the native approach, but it’s often times just the old ways.
There’s a bunch of other reasons: read more.
Yes and no. There are plugins that use the DOM as it is, in a similar fashion to native programming using the DOM, but most just look at and work with the “under the hood” elements of the DOM, with little or no actual DOM programming. There are also plugins that provide the jQuery functionality of addEventListener, DOM events,

Why am I not getting a consistent output?
I am trying to learn trigonometry. I am getting an inconsistent output for a program I wrote in python.
if x**2 + y**2 -1>0:
I am expecting the output as 1.0. But I am getting 1.0 for all the entries.
Any help would be appreciated.
Python does implicit type conversion, see here.
In your case, x and y are strings, so everything you do with them, is string related.
x**2 + y**2 -1>0
is interpreted as
str(x)**2 + str(y)**2 -1>0
which is false.
so on, more so in the ’80s. Just ask
I can see my oldies friends, now in their ’80s, who went off to law school or a big
corporate law firm and then when the firm moved to Texas, found themselves in some
well-heeled suburb of Dallas or Houston. They talked to us about how much better things
were, so much more culturally diverse, so many non-white people, in the ’80s. They
probably tell their kids the same thing.
But for the most part, the only thing that’s changed is that instead of living in
the suburbs, or an inner city, you live in an Amish village. It’s more diverse, but
in an era when diversity doesn’t seem to mean anything, being non-white or
non-native (like most of us) doesn’t seem to do much. If you’re not rich, and you
aren’t living near DFW, you’re not going to be the cool kid, and you’re not
going to be accepted. Even the Hispanics seem to be divided into those who are
Laredo or Tijuana and those who are Sinaloa.
So when I look at my pre-patriotic friends, I see them now and then in the crowd
at one of the three churches on my block. The three churches are all Protestant,
but they’re segregated along religious lines. If
